Scioto County • October 6, 2025
Good morning, Scioto County. Domination doesn't quite capture what happened when the Ironton Fighting Tigers took the field Saturday. Needing just 10 offensive plays to build a 44-0 halftime lead against Uniontown, the Tigers put on such a clinic that officials implemented a running clock in the second quarter. When your defense holds an opponent to negative 23 total yards all game, you're not just winning โ you're making a statement.
Nature lovers have something extraordinary to celebrate as Ohio marks a significant milestone with its 150th state nature preserve. Baker Swamp in nearby Jackson County now protects 181 acres of wetland sitting atop an ancient river system that disappeared 200,000 years ago. Meanwhile, a sobering reminder of ongoing challenges comes with news that a statewide sex trafficking operation resulted in 135 arrests, including one Ironton resident, while helping 67 trafficking survivors connect with support services.
