🕯️ River remembrances

Good morning, Scioto County. Along the banks of the Ohio River, dozens of luminaries drifted with the current last night, each carrying messages of hope and remembrance during Impact Prevention's annual Suicide Prevention Walk. These biodegradable lights—bearing names of loved ones lost—served as powerful reminders that in our community's darkest moments, we stand together, affirming that everyone's story deserves to continue.

As autumn settles in, our cultural calendar is heating up with "Shades of Bublé" bringing sophisticated vocals to Shawnee State's Vern Riffe Center on September 26, celebrating a decade of performances honoring the crooner's classics. Just across the river, Ashland's Poage Landing Days festival transforms Winchester Avenue into a haven for local artisans starting Friday, continuing a beloved tradition that showcases our region's creative spirit and community connections.

🕯️ Luminaries light the river, carrying messages of hope and remembrance. Impact Prevention hosted their annual Suicide Prevention Walk in Ironton, bringing together dozens to raise awareness and reduce stigma around mental health issues. The event, organized by youth leaders from local high schools, began at the Lawrence County Courthouse and ended at the Ohio River. Participants carried signs with empowering messages like "You matter" and the semicolon symbol, which represents that "your story's not over." The walk concluded with biodegradable luminaries bearing names of loved ones lost to suicide being released onto the Ohio River.
