Good morning, Scioto County. A $4.8 million infusion from the Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program is breathing new life into our region's natural treasures. With applications open through September 2025, local governments and non-profits across 11 counties have a golden opportunity to preserve Appalachia's breathtaking landscapes, restore waterways, and create accessible green spaces for generations to enjoy. The initiative represents a significant investment in our environmental heritage at a time when preserving natural beauty has never felt more urgent.

Beyond conservation efforts, hearts are breaking for Monster, the Plott Hound mix who's watched all nine siblings find homes while he remains at Kentucky's Ashland Animal Rescue Fund. Despite his misleading name, this "professional hugger" offers nothing but affection. On the education front, Fluor-BWXT's $3,500 donation to Waverly City Schools' COPE program is helping remove barriers to success by providing interview clothing, transportation, and graduation support for students in need.

The initiative focuses on preserving Appalachian Ohio's natural beauty and restoring areas affected by invasive species.

🐶 Monster watched all nine siblings get adopted while he waits alone. This sweet Plott Hound mix has spent a year at Kentucky's Ashland Animal Rescue Fund since arriving as a puppy in March 2024. Despite his misleading name, Monster is described as a "professional hugger" who's great with people and other dogs. He's fully vaccinated, house-trained, and walks well on a leash, though he'll need some guidance adjusting to home life after growing up in a kennel. The shelter can't understand why this "sweetheart with a big heart" continues to be overlooked.

🤝 Fluor-BWXT donates $3,500 to help students overcome barriers to success. The donation supports Waverly City School's COPE program, which connects students and families with essential resources like food, clothing, and housing assistance. Started five years ago, COPE identifies student needs that might impact classroom performance and matches families with appropriate social services. School officials praised Fluor-BWXT's partnership as crucial for breaking cycles of poverty and building a better future for the community.
