🥚 Art hunt adventure

Scioto County • April 8, 2025

Good morning, Scioto County. The intersection of art and community spirit has transformed into a treasure hunt across Portsmouth this month. The Southern Ohio Museum has partnered with Shawnee State University for an innovative Easter egg hunt featuring hand-painted wooden eggs inspired by local artist Clarence Carter's famous works. Clues based on Billy Graham's photographs are leading residents throughout town, with hunters already discovering the first eggs within 24 hours of their hiding – proof that Portsmouth's creative energy is alive and well.

In contrasting developments, the January term grand jury has returned indictments against ten individuals facing charges ranging from weapons offenses to drug possession. Meanwhile, a hometown success story unfolds aboard the USS John C. Stennis, where Petty Officer Christopher Bender has found purpose and stability during his 14-year Navy career. The Portsmouth native now serves aboard an aircraft carrier longer than three football fields, crediting his parents' guidance for his achievements far beyond Scioto County's borders.
