🏀 Local legend leaves

Scioto County • March 13, 2025

Good morning, Scioto County. The career statistics are staggering: 1,229 points, 241 three-pointers, and an unprecedented 91.5% free-throw percentage. Shawnee State's Tre Beard leaves behind more than just impressive numbers as he's crowned River States Conference Player of the Year – he departs as the program's winningest player, balancing athletic excellence with academic achievement through his 3.58 GPA. A true local legend whose impact extends well beyond the basketball court.

Meanwhile, contrasting stories of opportunity and chaos unfold across our community. The Grayson Chamber's upcoming job fair at Kentucky Christian University promises to connect job seekers with diverse employers on March 19, with potential for on-the-spot interviews. In less positive news, an 18-year-old Wheelersburg man faces multiple felony charges after allegedly assaulting a police officer during an attempted vehicle theft in New Boston – a violent incident that required the assistance of a good Samaritan to bring under control.
