🀝 Community in action

Scioto County • February 24, 2025

Good morning, Scioto County. There's something deeply moving about watching young people step up in times of crisis. As winter storms pummel our neighboring states, Ohio University Southern students aren't just sending thoughts and prayers – they're rallying with the kind of determination that would make Mister Rogers proud, gathering everything from heaters to cleaning supplies for Kentucky and West Virginia families who've lost nearly everything to the floods.

The spirit of community service seems to be contagious around here lately. While our college students are tackling disaster relief, Cincinnati Bengals star Cam Taylor-Britt is suiting up for a different kind of game plan – joining the fight against hunger in Ashland. And speaking of transformations, UK King's Daughters is giving the Bellefonte Centre a fresh identity that promises to be more than just a new coat of paint.

🌊 Ohio University students rally to help flood victims in neighboring states. The Student Social Work Association at Ohio University Southern has launched an urgent donation drive to support communities devastated by severe winter storms in Kentucky and West Virginia. Their initiative seeks essential supplies including heaters, generators, and cleaning materials for families displaced by flooding and power outages. The effort comes as both states declare emergencies, with thousands lacking power and clean water. Donations can be brought to the university's Office of Student Services, with distributions planned for February 22 and 27.
