🎶 Country is back

Scioto County • January 8, 2025

Good morning, Scioto County. The airwaves of southeastern Ohio are about to get a whole lot more twangy as "Hank-FM" rides into town, bringing veteran radio personality JB Miller back to the microphone. After teasing listeners with an eccentric mix of Christmas carols, Prince, and Billy Ray Cyrus on repeat, 107.1 WIRO has officially traded its old playlist for classic country gems that would make the namesake Hank Williams himself proud.

While country music makes its comeback on the dial, our region welcomes another fresh face to public service. Dave Taylor, a concrete company president turned congressman, has taken his oath for Ohio's Second District, bringing a dose of small-business savvy to Capitol Hill. Meanwhile, our community bids a tender farewell to Carla Hall, a beloved travel agent whose adventures and love of bluegrass music touched countless lives across our region.

🎸 Classic country makes comeback as "Hank-FM" debuts in Ironton, Ohio. Total Media Group has transformed its newly acquired 107.1 WIRO into a classic country format, bringing veteran radio personality JB Miller back to the airwaves for morning shows. The station's launch followed a creative stunting period featuring Christmas music, Prince's "1999," and Billy Ray Cyrus's "Achy Breaky Heart" on repeat.
