🎨 New Smokey Bear mural graces Portsmouth Floodwall. The well-loved symbol of wildfire prevention now has a striking mural on the Portsmouth Floodwall, completed by artist Robert Dafford in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The mural, which depicts Smokey Bear alongside local wildland firefighters and showcases the Shawnee State Forest, highlights the region’s rich history in firefighting. This addition joins an impressive collection of 55 murals decorating the floodwall since Dafford's first one in 1993. The initiative aims to raise awareness about wildfire prevention and the importance of careful land management as a protection against the hundreds of wildfires Ohio faces each year.
