Ross County • October 31, 2025
Good morning, Ross County. The seasonal pause button is being pressed across Chillicothe as construction crews prepare to give holiday shoppers some relief from orange barrel fatigue. Bridge Street renovations will take a well-deserved Thanksgiving break, while the US 23/35 project continues its transformation of our local roadways. This temporary reprieve comes just as the political landscape heats up with Jason Miller's bid for Chillicothe Municipal Court, bringing 23 years of prosecutorial experience to his campaign against Mayor Luke Feeney for Courtroom Number Two.
Meanwhile, Halloween spirit came alive at the Chillicothe-Ross County Public Library last week as tiny cowboys and miniature Disney characters took over for a special trick-or-treat event. The festive gathering captured by the Chillicothe Gazette offered our youngest residents a safe space to showcase their creative costumes while participating in community traditions. Who needs a candy aisle when you have a library transformed into a trick-or-treating destination?

⚖️ Prosecutor with judicial experience vies for Chillicothe Municipal Court seat. Jason Miller, a Republican assistant law director, is running against Democratic Mayor Luke Feeney for the position in Courtroom Number Two. Miller brings 23 years of experience as a prosecuting attorney and has served as a substitute judge for 11 years. Although party affiliations don't appear on the ballot, this race is separate from the Courtroom Number One contest between Judge Keith Washburn and attorney Angela Hirsch. Miller emphasizes that the court handles all Ross County misdemeanors and some felonies despite its municipal designation.
🚧 Chillicothe traffic projects hit holiday pause button after months of construction. Bridge Street renovations will take a Thanksgiving break, leaving three northbound and two southbound lanes operational for the shopping season. The Walmart roundabout, Marietta Road extension, and other key improvements will be completed before the pause, with work resuming in spring 2026. Meanwhile, the US 23/35 freeway project won't stop for winter, with southbound ramps at East Main Street closing November 5 for 45 days. ODOT reminds drivers to use caution in work zones, noting highway workers have been hit 90 times this year already.
