๐Ÿ“ Fabric fades, spirit stays

Ross County • February 14, 2025

โ€‹

Good morning, Ross County. As the final threads unravel at Joann Fabrics, with 500 stores set to shutter nationwide, it feels like we're watching the end of an era that's touched crafters and creators across generations. The Hudson-based retailer's second bankruptcy filing in 12 months hits especially close to home, with Ohio bearing the brunt of 33 closures โ€“ proving that even fabric empire seams can come undone.

But Ross County's spirit remains unbreakable, with love and music in the air this weekend. While 72% of Americans are splurging on Valentine's dining despite inflation's pinch, CRUSH is ready to have locals living on more than just a prayer at the Majestic Theatre. And for history buffs planning ahead, Ohio's quirky historical attractions are weaving their own unique story for America's 250th birthday bash in 2026.

Without a buyer, Gordon Brothers Retail Partners LLC plans to liquidate the entire company through going-out-of-business sales. The restructuring could impact up to 661 corporate employees at their Ohio headquarters starting March 15. Prior to this announcement, Joann operated 45 stores in Ohio and was seeking to reduce an estimated $505 million in debt.
