🎶 Hitting the right notes

Ross County • January 21, 2025

Good morning, Ross County. In an era of TikTok fame and viral sensations, it's fascinating to discover that Ross County was cultivating its own rock stars back in the 1970s. The six-piece band Stonehinge Move blazed a trail from Portsmouth to Mansfield, winning over skeptical audiences with their thrift shop style and uncompromising sound - though their bold dismissal of hearing damage concerns might explain why they're not still touring today.

While we're celebrating musical history, the present is hitting some high notes too. Zane Trace's basketball squad is orchestrating a symphony of victories on the court, the Ross County Library is choreographing tai chi sessions for seniors, and somewhere in the archives, the 1961 Southeastern Panthers' championship story still echoes through local sports lore. It's just another week of Ross County making headlines across generations.

☕️ What's Brewing Locally

🎸 Small-town rock band Stonehinge Move made waves in 1970s Ohio. The six-piece group, featuring members aged 17-21 from different schools and backgrounds, played gigs from Portsmouth to Mansfield with their distinctive thrift shop style. Despite occasional resistance to their unconventional appearance, they managed to win over audiences of all ages, including the "over 30 generation." The band boldly dismissed contemporary concerns about hearing damage from loud rock music, claiming amplifier exposure hadn't affected them. Their ultimate fate remains a mystery, with questions lingering about their musical careers and whether they stayed connected over the decades.
