🏗 Building big dreams

Ross County • January 16, 2025

Good morning, Ross County. When it comes to growth stories, Atomic Credit Union is proving that not all financial powerhouses need a Wall Street address. The hometown institution is making waves with plans for a gleaming five-story headquarters in Piketon - a testament to their explosive membership growth from 20,000 to 80,000 since 2007. Talk about a local success story that's literally reaching new heights.

Meanwhile, our roads are about to host what might be Ohio's most impressive parade - if you can call a 456,342-pound super load a parade. This mechanical behemoth, stretching longer than half a football field, will be making Ross County Fairgrounds its temporary home during its epic three-day journey across the state. Between this industrial giant and our local athletes crushing it post-holiday break, Ross County is definitely starting 2024 with some heavy lifting.

☕️ What's Brewing Locally

🏦 Small-town credit union plans massive five-story headquarters expansion in Ohio. Atomic Credit Union will add a 40,000-square-foot building to its Piketon campus, connected to the existing structure by a glass walkway. The expansion comes as membership has quadrupled from 20,000 to 80,000 since 2007, making it one of Southern Ohio's largest employers. The new facility will consolidate administrative departments and house over 300 workstations for back-office staff. Set for completion in early summer 2026, the project aims to boost efficiency by bringing scattered departments under one roof.

🚛 Massive 456,342-pound super load begins three-day journey across Ohio. The extraordinary cargo, stretching 196 feet long, will wind its way from Adams County to Licking County starting Friday. Transportation officials confirmed this is the 33rd such load taking this specific route since 2024, with carefully planned daytime-only travel to ensure safety. The massive transport will make overnight stops at Ross County fairgrounds and Rickenbacker before completing its journey. Due to the load's extreme size and weight, ODOT had to pre-inspect all bridges and clear potential overhead obstacles along the pre-determined route.
