The swearing-in ceremony wasn't just about new beginnings - it marked the start of a crucial mission for County Prosecutor Jeff Marks and Representative Mark Johnson as they tackle prison reforms in the wake of officer Andy Lansing's Christmas Day killing.

Meanwhile, our community is processing multiple sobering events, from the tragic loss of Chillicothe's Jason Frey on Route 35 to the stark reminders of winter's power captured in a fascinating collection of historic snowfall photos. ☕️ What's Brewing Locally

⚖️ Nine officials take oath as Ross County confronts prison guard murder. The New Year's Eve swearing-in ceremony at the historic courthouse included six re-elected officials and three newcomers, with Republicans dominating the proceedings. Two of the officials, County Prosecutor Jeff Marks and State Representative Mark Johnson, will play key roles in addressing the Christmas Day killing of prison officer Andy Lansing at Ross Correctional Institution. Johnson plans to introduce "Andy's Law" to reform prison safety protocols, addressing concerns about officers working alone and in darkness. The tragic incident has sparked broader discussions about prison system reform, with the investigation expected to take six to seven weeks while the accused remains in maximum security.
