Good morning, Preble County. Behind every successful university stands an academic architect most students never see. At Miami University, that invisible force is Interim Provost Chris Makaroff, who quietly shapes everything from which professors teach your classes to what programs remain available—all while resolving conflicts and representing Miami at state-level discussions. His biweekly meetings with deans and department chairs form the backbone of the university's academic structure, though you might graduate without ever learning his name.

The sound of gunfire disrupted a Middletown neighborhood early Saturday morning, with police confirming shell casings were found near Moore Street. While investigating continues with no immediate threat identified, campus life carried on as Congressman Warren Davidson shared military leadership insights with Miami students during the International Leadership Conference. His workshop emphasized the delicate balance between careful planning and adaptability—a fitting lesson for both battlefield and political arenas.
