Good morning, Preble County. Twenty-four years after that fateful September morning, Twin Valley South High School demonstrated the enduring power of remembrance with its moving 9/11 ceremony. Students, staff, and first responders gathered to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost and celebrate the extraordinary courage that emerged from tragedy—a powerful reminder that even as years pass, our commitment to never forget remains steadfast.

Beyond solemn commemorations, the community continues addressing everyday challenges. Oxford authorities report a concerning trend with Uptown assaults increasing slightly compared to last year, involving a diverse mix of students and non-students alike. Meanwhile, Harrison Township residents are breathing easier after the long-awaited demolition of a nuisance property on Old Riverside Drive—a victory years in the making that required persistent efforts from code enforcement officers and local emergency departments.

👊 Oxford fights aren't just a student problem anymore. Police report a slight increase in Uptown assaults, with 12 incidents between August and September compared to 9 last year. Lt. Adam Price notes these altercations involve a mix of demographics - students, visitors from other colleges, and locals - with alcohol playing a significant role. Most fights occur in the Mile Square area between midnight and 3 a.m. on weekends, often triggered by verbal insults. Authorities face challenges in addressing the issue as victims frequently decline to report incidents or follow through with charges.

🏚️ Nuisance property finally demolished after years of community concerns. The house at 3901 Old Riverside Drive in Harrison Township was torn down Tuesday following a court order declaring it a public nuisance. Montgomery County Court appointed a receiver and ordered demolition earlier this year to protect neighborhood health and safety. Once cleared, the property will be sold with proceeds covering demolition costs. Township officials credited the successful removal to years of work by code enforcement officers with support from local fire and sheriff's departments.
