Good morning, Preble County. When it comes to leadership transitions, our region is experiencing quite the changing of the guard. United Theological Seminary, an economic powerhouse generating millions for the Dayton area, has launched its search for a new president as its longtime leader prepares to step down. This shift mirrors other executive changes happening across Dayton's business landscape, from manufacturing firms to expanding regional companies.

While some institutions face leadership changes, others are extending helping hands. This Friday marks the Dayton VA's 20th annual "Stand Down" event, providing critical resources to veterans in need. Meanwhile, Miami University's governing body is adapting to a new reality as Senate Bill 1 shifts curriculum authority to the Board of Trustees. The University Senate is pivoting to an advisory role while forming committees to navigate these structural changes that will impact future graduates.

📚 Ohio's Senate Bill 1 strips power from University Senate. Miami University's governing body must now navigate a diminished role as the Board of Trustees gains "final, overriding authority" for curricular decisions under the new law. Previously responsible for curriculum and programs, the Senate is now limited to providing "advice, feedback and recommendations" starting September 30. In response, members formed an Ad Hoc Committee to amend the Enabling Act while also addressing the new American Civic Literacy requirement for future graduates. Senate Chair Nathan French urged members to reenvision their advisory capacity to remain "an indispensable part of the institution."
