Preble County • August 28, 2025
Good morning, Preble County. A staggering $100 million investment is breathing new life into downtown Richmond, just across the state line. Spearheaded by Earlham College with substantial community backing, this five-year transformation promises 100 new apartments, renovated commercial spaces, and a vibrant makerspace along Main Street by 2028. As Richmond's Community Relations Director confidently declares, "We're back" – signaling a renaissance that could convince more college graduates to put down roots in the region.
Safety concerns are prompting changes at local schools and in law enforcement. Trotwood-Madison schools have implemented new guidelines requiring adult supervision for younger attendees at football games following a significant brawl at their home opener. Meanwhile, in Montgomery County, authorities have indicted a 54-year-old man on 28 counts related to child pornography after an investigation stemming from a national tip. His arraignment is scheduled for September 9.

🏙️ A $100 million revival is transforming Richmond, Indiana's downtown. Led by Earlham College with a $25 million Lilly Endowment grant, the "Revitalize Richmond" initiative has community partners contributing an additional $83 million. The five-year plan includes developing 100 market-rate apartments, renovating commercial spaces, and creating a makerspace along Main Street. 🏈 Trotwood schools crack down after football game brawl. Following a large melee during the varsity team's home opener, Trotwood-Madison City Schools will now require minors "under a certain age" to be accompanied by a paying adult at all home football games. Eight individuals—four adults and four juveniles—are facing criminal charges related to the incidents, with additional suspects still being identified. Superintendent Marlon Howard acknowledged the new guidelines may be "uncomfortable for some," but emphasized the need to ensure safety for all attendees. The changes come after police had to respond to multiple altercations during and after the August 22 game against Cleveland Heights High School.
