Good morning, Preble County. Nature's smallest conservationists are finding a champion in Dr. Melissa Quick, whose medical office flower bed has transformed into an official Monarch Waystation. What began as a 200-square-foot garden has blossomed into something much more significant—a therapeutic escape for staff, inspiration for patients, and a beautiful example of how small spaces can make big environmental impacts. The garden's milkweed plants tell their own multigenerational story, tracing back to seeds from an elementary school project from three decades ago.

In other local developments, authorities have made two arrests in connection with a Middletown shooting investigation, bringing some resolution to a case that began in mid-June. Meanwhile, summer spirituality is in full swing as local churches prepare for Vacation Bible School events. First Southern Baptist Church's "Magnified" program and Northside Chapel's "Truth Detectives" series offer children educational adventures, while a special July performance by award-winning Southern Gospel trio Greater Vision adds musical inspiration to the season.

🦋 Doctor transforms office flower bed into certified pollinator paradise. Dr. Melissa Quick of Trenton Family Medicine created a 200-square-foot garden featuring milkweed, sunflowers, and other native plants that earned official Monarch Waystation certification. The garden provides a therapeutic escape for staff and has inspired patients to start their own pollinator gardens at home. In a touching full-circle moment, some of the milkweed seeds came from plants at Quick's mother's house that originated from Edgewood Elementary School 30 years ago. Staff members have distributed about 30 bags of seeds with planting instructions to community members, extending the garden's environmental impact beyond the medical office.
