Good morning, Preble County. From lecture halls to burrito bowls! A Miami University professor's denied leave request sparked an unexpected career pivot when Leah Wasburn-Moses traded her tenured position for a Chipotle apron—at least temporarily. Her unpaid semester off included not just food service experience but extensive travel across Europe, ultimately transforming her teaching philosophy and giving her fresh perspective on student challenges.

Meanwhile, troubling developments are unfolding at Talawanda School District, where an administrator has been placed on paid leave following allegations of "inappropriate conduct." This marks at least the fourth Talawanda employee suspension this academic year, adding to a concerning pattern that now involves local law enforcement. The district, which serves approximately 3,000 K-12 students across western Butler County, has released minimal details while emphasizing their commitment to student safety.

🌮 Professor trades lecture hall for Chipotle after denied leave request. When Miami University's Leah Wasburn-Moses couldn't get time off to visit her daughter studying abroad, she took an entire unpaid semester off instead. The tenured educational psychology professor spent part of her time working at Chipotle, where she gained new perspective on student life and pressures. She also traveled extensively, visiting her daughter in England and taking a five-week solo cruise to countries including Greece, Albania, and Portugal. The experience transformed her teaching approach, giving her more compassion for students and confidence in her own adaptability.
