💻 Digital makeover

Preble County • March 5, 2025

Good morning, Preble County. A digital revolution is quietly transforming Miami University as the institution phases out the familiar BannerWeb in favor of the sleek, cloud-based Workday platform. While students might grumble about learning yet another system, they can take comfort knowing the transition is gradual—with full implementation not complete until 2026. By then, many current students will have already tossed their graduation caps into the air, leaving the technological growing pains to future classes.

Meanwhile, community spirit is alive and well across the county, from Eaton United Church of Christ's upcoming pancake breakfast supporting local housing initiatives to the historic $2.1 million grant received by the Myaamia Center for Indigenous language revival. As one language revitalization expert beautifully put it, the work "starts small with a spark, but then you add fuel, and it gets bigger"—much like the pancakes you'll flip at Saturday's fundraiser if you drop by between 9 and 11 a.m.

💻 Miami University phases out BannerWeb for modern Workday platform. The university is halfway through a major system transition, with human resources and payroll already moved to Workday since July 2024. The cloud-based system will eventually replace all BannerWeb functions, including course registration and transcripts, by fall 2026. Students will begin registering for classes through Workday in spring 2025, with full implementation affecting only a few student cohorts as many will graduate before completion. University officials promise training resources to help students navigate the change.
