The capital city claimed three of the top four positionsβproving that when it comes to fried dough perfection, our region rises to the occasion.
In more somber developments, a 35-year-old mystery has finally found resolution as skeletal remains discovered in Franklin County back in 1989 have been identified as Ernest Emerson Carter. Meanwhile, Ohio teens are getting an unprecedented education in human trafficking enforcement through the Attorney General's Teen Ambassador Board, where students from across the state are learning to recognize warning signs and advocate for prevention in their communities.

π‘οΈ Ohio teens get front-row seat to human trafficking enforcement. Attorney General Dave Yost welcomed high school students to his Teen Ambassador Board by inviting them to witness a press conference on "Operation Next Door," a statewide human trafficking sting. The 182 board members, including two from Union County, asked officials tough questions about trafficking warning signs and social media's role in victimization. Officials advised teens to trust their instincts, avoid sharing intimate photos online, and report suspicious activity to the Human Trafficking Hotline. During their one-year term, these ambassadors will offer youth perspectives on issues and engage directly with state officials through various activities.
π Cold case solved after 35 years of mystery. The skeletal remains found in Franklin County, Ohio in 1989 have finally been identified as Ernest Emerson Carter, born in 1923. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost announced the breakthrough, which came after years of investigation by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation. The case gained momentum when nonprofit Porchlight Project funded DNA testing by Othram, a forensic technology company, in 2024.
