Powell • September 30, 2025
Good morning, Powell. Fall in Ohio just got a whole lot more adventurous with the state's first-ever corn maze trail featuring 46 farms and attractions. Among them is Union County's The MAiZE at Little Darby Creek, where an OSU-themed design pays tribute to coach Ryan Day across their 160-acre family farm. Whether you're navigating through cornfield corridors or sampling creative mac and cheese at The James' annual festival at Easton Town Center, seasonal traditions are in full swing across our region.
The spirit of service runs deep in our community, as demonstrated by the Mac and Cheese Festival that's approaching the $500,000 milestone for adolescent cancer programs. That same dedication to others was embodied by William "Bill" Johnson, the beloved Hilliard teacher and Korean War Marine who passed away at 95. After 34 years in the classroom and 61 years of marriage, his legacy of education and service continues to inspire Powell and beyond.

๐ง Mac and cheese festival stirs up hope for cancer patients. The James' eighth annual Mac and Cheese Festival at Easton Town Center raised funds for adolescent and young adult cancer treatment programs. Over 2,000 attendees sampled creative mac and cheese variations from 15 restaurants, including vegan options from The James' Mobile Education Kitchen. Founded in 2016 by Josh Barkan, the festival has generated nearly $500,000 to date and expects to cross that milestone this year. For participants like Hayden Gattiff, currently undergoing chemotherapy, the event represents a meaningful way to support a cause that directly impacts patients like himself.
