Good morning, Powell. Orange and black are taking over Richwood as North Union's Homecoming Week transforms the town into a spirited celebration. From Monday's kickoff through next Thursday's finale, the community is rallying around traditions like Wednesday's downtown Snake Dance Parade and the battle for Homecoming Court crowns before Friday's big game against Indian Lake. Nothing quite captures small-town pride like students parading through streets that have witnessed generations of the same traditions.
Meanwhile, healthcare in Central Ohio is getting a massive upgrade as Ohio State's Wexner Medical Center prepares to unveil its 26-story inpatient tower in 2026. The facility's 820 private rooms represent just one piece of their expansion, which includes new community partnerships in Hilliard offering everything from physical therapy to mental health services. As the medical center celebrates its rise to silver-level recognition for physician well-being, the community also mourns the loss of 90-year-old Shirley Ann Ormeroid, whose legacy of quilting and grandmotherly love lives on.

A woman of many talents, Shirley worked as both a beautician and seed technician while creating beautiful quilts as a skilled seamstress.
