Good morning, Portage County. A Cleveland Heights bakery has just earned a spot among pastry royalty on the global stage. On the Rise Artisan Breads claimed a coveted top-10 ranking at France's prestigious Mondial du Pain competition, proving that world-class pastries aren't just found in Parisian cafés. The American team, led by owner Brian Evans, showcased creations you can now sample without boarding an international flight – just head to their Cleveland Heights or Shaker Heights locations.

Meanwhile, community connections are strengthening across the county. The Portage NAACP is organizing a powerful "Souls to the Polls" march on November 2, helping voters navigate the electoral process with confidence. In Chagrin Falls, science education has taken a creative plunge as ninth-graders design 3D-printed scuba divers in a hands-on buoyancy challenge. From global recognition to local innovation, there's no shortage of inspiration flowing through our communities this week.

🗳️ Portage NAACP empowers voters with community march to the polls. The "Souls to the Polls" event on November 2 invites congregations to gather at Ravenna's United Church of Christ before walking together to the Board of Elections. This initiative responds to findings that many older adults in predominantly Black neighborhoods avoid voting due to discomfort with voting technology. Participants will demonstrate support for fair elections while helping fellow citizens cast their ballots with confidence. The march offers voters a chance to vote early and avoid Election Day lines.
