🚗 Joyride justice

Portage County • April 4, 2025

Good morning, Portage County. Breaking news rarely happens in slow motion, yet that's exactly what unfolded in Beachwood when a teen's joyride in a stolen Infiniti came to an abrupt end following a dealership heist. The incident adds to recent police activity in the area, where officers also made an arrest in a domestic violence case at The Vantage apartments – reminding us that behind closed doors, communities face challenges that rarely make headlines.

Meanwhile, Shaker Heights is turning the page on a new chapter of economic development with Callie Cripps stepping into the executive director role at the Shaker Heights Development Corporation. The Cleveland State graduate brings impressive credentials from her work with the City of Euclid and Downtown Cleveland Alliance, and now takes charge of establishing a business improvement district and managing The Shaker Lee Development Fund. Her appointment signals fresh momentum for commercial revitalization efforts across the area.
