💡 Lighting up opportunities

Portage County • April 1, 2025

Good morning, Portage County. Ohio's economic landscape just got a little brighter with EGLO USA Inc. bringing its glow to Solon. The global lighting giant is relocating its North American headquarters nearby, creating 89 new jobs as part of recent projects approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority. While business developments illuminate our region's growth potential, a heartwarming story about Camp Wise friendships reminds us that some connections never dim, even after 20 years.

From economic sparks to musical journeys, Glenn Tilbrook is proving age is just a number at 67. The Squeeze frontman is currently juggling three musical worlds—opening for Heart, performing with Daryl Hall, and playing solo shows—all while traveling America in his 39-foot RV with his wife. With two new albums recorded and arena shows selling out in the UK, Tilbrook's creative renaissance shows that sometimes the most inspiring second acts happen when you simply refuse to fade away.

🏕️ Summer camp friendships can last a lifetime. Rebecca Semel, who attended Camp Wise for 16 summers, maintains deep bonds with four friends she met there over 20 years ago. Despite being geographically separated between Cleveland and New York, the "really special group" stays connected through an active group chat and annual reunions. As a psychologist, Semel believes camp friendships are uniquely powerful because campers experience life's ups and downs together while developing independence in a supportive environment. "My camp girlfriends are like my family—they're basically all my sisters," she explains.

🎸 Glenn Tilbrook is juggling three musical worlds at once. The 67-year-old Squeeze frontman is simultaneously opening for Heart with his band, performing with Daryl Hall, and playing solo shows across America. Traveling in his beloved 39-foot RV with his wife, Tilbrook finds inspiration in unexpected places while enjoying Squeeze's current success, including arena shows in the UK. The band has recorded two new albums—one featuring songs from 1974 and another with fresh material—that Tilbrook hopes will be released this year. "I think what I've learned is I want to do this no matter what the outcome," he reflects.
