🔍 Bedford homicide mystery

Portage County • March 10, 2025

Good morning, Portage County. A stark reminder of urban violence crossed county lines Friday when 31-year-old Clarence Houston was discovered fatally shot in his SUV at a busy Bedford intersection. As detectives piece together what happened at the Northfield and Rockside Roads scene, the tragedy underscores how quickly life can change in the spaces we navigate daily. Bedford police are urging witnesses to come forward as they work to bring answers to a family now facing an unimaginable loss.

On a more hopeful note, the Portage Animal Protective League is preparing to transform spring fever into lifesaving support at their upcoming Paws to Celebrate Spring Fling. The April 12th fundraiser at Kent American Legion Hall promises a night of food, auctions and music with a purpose—providing critical care for the county's most vulnerable four-legged residents. Early birds who secure their $80 tickets before March 29th not only save a few dollars but help save countless furry lives in the process.
