Good morning, Pike County. November's chill brings with it a flurry of practical learning opportunities as Camp Life prepares to equip local teens with essential adulting skills. The upcoming 4-H event at Canter's Cave offers everything from sewing buttons to basic car maintenance, cleverly balancing life lessons with fun activities like an Ohio State tailgate and campfire gatherings—all for just $40 including a take-home skills kit.

Meanwhile, healthcare innovation is rolling directly into rural communities as Ohio unveils its first Mobile Medication Units in Chillicothe. These traveling treatment centers will serve seven underserved counties, bringing critical addiction services to areas with limited access to care. In local safety news, authorities are investigating a motorcycle crash on Three Locks Road where a 48-year-old rider sustained serious injuries after failing to navigate a curve—a sobering reminder to exercise caution on our winding country roads.

💊 Ohio brings life-saving addiction treatment directly to rural communities. The state recently unveiled its first Mobile Medication Units (MMUs) in Chillicothe, designed to deliver opioid treatment services to seven underserved rural counties. Despite declining overdose rates statewide, rural areas continue to face the highest death rates due to limited access to treatment facilities. The mobile units—staffed with medical providers, nurses, and support personnel—will dispense medications like methadone and buprenorphine while also offering counseling and case management services. Funded by a $1.7 million federal grant, these units aim to serve approximately 200 people in their first year of operation.
