Pike County • June 4, 2025
Good morning, Pike County. Hide-and-seek isn't just for children, as Chillicothe police discovered when they found two fugitives playing an adult version of the gameβone tucked under a bed and another concealed in a bathtub at McArthur Gardens Apartments. Joseph Larue and Shanna Cantrell learned the hard way that bathtubs and bed frames make poor escape routes when officers are responding to trespassing complaints, especially when you're already wanted on outstanding warrants.
From fugitive hide-and-seek to barnyard visitors, our community experienced quite the contrast in activities. While police tackled a chaotic 24 hours of missing person reports, disorderly conduct calls, and domestic disputes across town, the Northside Branch of the library transformed into a temporary petting zoo. "Bring the Farm to You" created a heartwarming scene where chickens, goats, and ducks brought rural charm to an urban settingβproving that sometimes the most unexpected encounters happen in the most familiar places.
