Good morning, Pike County. Tourism dollars are doing more than filling hotel rooms—they're filling your wallet too. A striking $155 million flows into Ross County's economy from visitors, supporting over 2,000 jobs and saving each household approximately $608 in taxes annually. Beyond the financial benefits, these tourism dollars enhance quality of life through upgraded parks and cultural experiences like the UNESCO-designated Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks—all funded through a lodging tax that leaves your property and sales taxes untouched.

While tourism strengthens our economic foundation, local institutions are building our community's future. Ohio University Chillicothe's upcoming wellness conference aims to plant "seeds of hope" across Southern Ohio through holistic prevention approaches. And speaking of future-focused celebrations, Chillicothe High School's Class of 2025 just turned their tassels at the Obadiah Harris Family Athletic Complex, marking their transition from students to graduates ready to make their mark on the world.

💰 Tourism pumps $155 million into Ross County's economy. Visitor spending supported 2,072 jobs, representing 7.5% of all local employment in the Ohio county. According to a Tourism Economics study, each household saved approximately $608 annually in taxes thanks to tourism revenue. Beyond economic benefits, tourism enhances quality of life through upgraded parks, festivals, and cultural experiences like the UNESCO-designated Hopewell Ceremonial Earthworks. The Ross-Chillicothe Convention & Visitors Bureau funds these initiatives entirely through a 3% lodging tax, not through sales or property taxes.
