Pike County • March 25, 2025
Good morning, Pike County. March brings both endings and celebrations to our community this week. The peaceful passing of Gracie Wilson marks the conclusion of an extraordinary 87-year journey, leaving behind a legacy of faith and family that spans generations. Her nearly seven-decade marriage to Don stands as a testament to devotion in our increasingly transient world, while the compassionate care provided by Heartland Hospice reminds us of the importance of dignity in life's final chapter.
Meanwhile, the Pioneer Center's annual awards banquet shone a spotlight on local champions of inclusion, with Mayor Feeney joining Superintendent Beeler to recognize extraordinary contributions throughout the community. And for those feeling nostalgic, a look back at Chillicothe High School's 1997 production of "Look Homeward Angel" offers a charming glimpse into our theatrical past, when today's community leaders were perhaps taking their first bow on the local stage.

🎭 High school seniors brought classic novel to life in 1997. Chillicothe High School's spring production of "Look Homeward Angel" showcased the talents of their graduating class. The play, based on Thomas Wolfe's autobiographical novel, featured Jeff Downing as Eugene and Natalie Abbott as Liza Grant in key roles. Photographer Paula Ortman captured the memorable performances for the Chillicothe Gazette, preserving this piece of local theatrical history. These archive photos offer a nostalgic glimpse into the artistic achievements of Chillicothe's youth from over two decades ago.
