🚔 Woman's creative hiding spot in storage tote fails to fool police. Enddasey Banks was discovered tucked away inside a closet container during a police response to a Chillicothe, Ohio disturbance call. Officers initially received a tip that the suspect was hiding under a bed upstairs at the Hirn Street address. Banks, who had four active warrants across two law enforcement agencies, was taken into custody without resistance. The incident occurred on February 22, 2025, during what began as a routine disorderly conduct investigation.

🚧 Major road closure hits State Route 327 near Wellston starting Monday. The Ohio Department of Transportation will shut down a section between SR 32 and Wellston Industrial Park Road for a culvert replacement project. Drivers must follow detours via Wellston Industrial Park Road and Fairgreens Road during the closure. Jackson County Engineer warns motorists to exercise caution while navigating unfamiliar alternate routes. The duration of the closure has not been announced.

🎨 A father's grief transforms into hope through high school art show. Following his teenage son's suicide in 2006, Jim Butt created a foundation sponsoring "The Best of Ross County" art exhibition at the Pump House Center for the Arts. The foundation, named after James "Beans" Butt who was a passionate young artist, works to prevent suicide and promote mental health resources. They actively support the 988 emergency number and are planning to bring suicide-prevention speaker Kevin Hines to the area. The free exhibition, featuring Ross County high school artists, runs through February 28th at the Pump House.

🙏 In Remembrance

Jeffrey Van Hopkins

Jeffrey Van Hopkins, 71, of Lucasville, Ohio, passed away on February 19, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born on May 20, 1953, he was the son of Phyllis Williams Hopkins and the late Don Hopkins. Survived by his wife, Sherri Beebe Hopkins, and four children, Jeffrey was a retired Atomic Plant Employee who was known for his kindness and generous spirit. A proud graduate of Waverly High School and a dedicated basketball player, he was inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame. Funeral services are scheduled for February 26, 2025, with visitation on February 25 at Boyer Funeral Home.

Garett Scott Robertson

Garett Scott Robertson, 30, of Portsmouth, Ohio, passed away on February 19, 2025, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. Born on August 29, 1994, he was the son of Brian Scott Robertson and Sonya Jean (Parker) Levier. Garett is survived by his wife, Erica, and their three children, along with three sisters and several extended family members. An Army veteran and brick laborer, he was known for his infectious smile and generous spirit, always ready to help others. Friends may visit the family at Boyer Funeral Home on February 24, 2025.
