Good morning, Pickaway County. The century-old legacy of MAHLE Manufacturing in Mt. Sterling is winding to a close, with 141 workers facing an uncertain future as the automotive supplier gradually shuts down operations through August. The plant's closure marks the end of a business that has been part of Ohio's manufacturing landscape since 1920, though the company's Dayton location is expected to continue operations as MAHLE pivots toward climate-neutral mobility technologies.

On a brighter note, two Logan Elm seniors have secured their academic futures with prestigious $1,000 scholarships. Julia Weller and Keegan Diehl stood out among 26 applicants for their character and community service, with Julia heading to Ohio University for Hospitality Management while Keegan pursues Agriscience Education at Ohio State. Meanwhile, Senator Sherrod Brown's recent farm visit highlighted the challenges local agricultural producers face amid changing international trade dynamics and rising equipment costs.

🌾 Sherrod Brown visits Ohio farm to highlight tariff woes. The Democratic Senate candidate met with farmer John Hoffman, who revealed China's soybean purchases have plummeted to zero for the upcoming season. Brown criticized current tariff policies that have increased input costs and equipment prices while benefiting competitors like Argentina. He advocated for scaling back tariffs, developing biofuel markets, and creating policies that allow farmers to operate in a free market rather than relying on government bailouts. Hoffman praised Brown's past support for agriculture during his previous Senate tenure.
