Good morning, Pickaway County. Sometimes the most inspiring stories come from those who fall and rise again. Just ask Star, the juvenile bald eagle who took an 80-foot tumble from her nest near Grandview Heights earlier this month. After a two-week rehabilitation for suspected avian botulism, this majestic bird is soaring once more, released at Scioto Audubon Metro Park to begin her nomadic journey toward adulthoodβ€”a powerful reminder of nature's resilience with the help of compassionate humans.

On the courts, Athens tennis experienced their own ups and downs in a nail-biting match against Circleville. Despite sweeping both doubles matches with some stellar performances (including a perfect 6-0, 6-0 showing from seniors Straley and Wood), the Bulldogs ultimately fell 3-2 as Circleville dominated singles play. The narrow defeat comes as the team looks to rebuild momentum following their recent victory over Vinton County.

🎾 Athens tennis team falls short in close match against Circleville. The Bulldogs suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat despite sweeping both doubles matches with impressive performances. Circleville dominated singles play, with Athens' Abigail Lim, Raquel de Abreu, and Anna Fogt all losing their respective matches despite putting up spirited resistance. The sophomore duo of VanNorstran and Choi secured a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory in doubles, while seniors Straley and Wood delivered a perfect 6-0, 6-0 performance in the second doubles match. The loss comes after Athens had built momentum from a big win over Vinton County last week.

πŸ¦… Injured bald eagle Star soars again after two-week rehabilitation journey. The juvenile eagle, who fell from her nest near Grandview Heights in early August, was released at Scioto Audubon Metro Park after treatment for suspected avian botulism. Local birders likely saved Star's life by alerting officials when she exhibited symptoms, allowing Ohio Department of Natural Resources to rescue her after an 80-foot fall. The Ohio Bird Sanctuary nursed Star back to health with intravenous fluids and flight practice in a special cage. Star's parents, Apollo and Athena, have also shown signs of recovery as their offspring begins her expected 5-7 year nomadic journey before reaching breeding age.
