Pickaway County • July 15, 2025
Good morning, Pickaway County. Tragedy struck Columbus last week when lightning claimed the life of 36-year-old Mouhamed Seye at Northland High School's soccer field. The Franklin County Coroner confirmed the cause as lightning injury with cardiac arrest and thermal burns, while a second victim remains in critical condition. Our thoughts are with both families during this difficult time.
On a brighter note, summer festivities are heating up across the region. The Columbus Jazz & Rib Fest returns July 18-20 with its sizzling combination of BBQ and smooth tunes, expecting to draw 200,000 attendees to enjoy 30+ food vendors and performances by artists like Mavis Staples. Closer to home, Circleville's Uptown Classic brings 3-on-3 basketball back to town as part of a three-day "Christmas in July" celebration from July 17-19, welcoming players as young as 10 to participate in this summer tradition.
