Good morning, Pickaway County. In the world of emergency response, not all heroes wear capes—some wear lab coats. Dr. John Gabis of Adena Health has been recognized as a finalist for Ohio's prestigious Albert E. Dyckes award after his Hope Partnership Project helped slash overdose deaths by one-sixth in Ross County. His extraordinary commitment—from home visits to eulogies—represents healthcare at its most compassionate core, earning national recognition from the Health Resources and Services Administration.

Meanwhile, a bizarre incident unfolded when Jeffrey Corby's false hostage report triggered a massive emergency response, complete with drones, helicopters, and highway closures. As he awaits sentencing, there's a more uplifting transformation happening locally—APRN Kristy Thompson has pivoted from emergency care to launch Skin Clique, a mobile skincare business bringing professional aesthetic treatments directly to clients' homes, eliminating waiting rooms while utilizing medical-grade products.

🚨 False hostage report sparks massive police response and highway shutdown. Jeffrey Corby, 44, has pleaded guilty to inducing panic after fabricating a hostage situation at an Ohio State Highway Patrol post in January. The hoax prompted authorities to deploy drones, helicopters, and a negotiator while closing US-23 for public safety. Law enforcement quickly determined the report was false after investigating the scene. Corby remains in Pickaway County Jail without bond while awaiting sentencing following a Pre-Sentence Investigation.
