Pickaway County • April 9, 2025
Good morning, Pickaway County. Our community is mourning the loss of two remarkable figures this week. Gregory "Walkdog" Walker and Asa Elsea leave behind legacies that remind us how individual lives shape the fabric of our small townβfrom Walkdog's devoted fatherhood to Elsea's extraordinary contributions as an athlete, businessman, and philanthropist who raised an incredible $100,000 for scholarships through his passion for running.
As we reflect on these meaningful lives, Mother Nature demands our immediate attention. The Scioto River is projected to crest at a concerning 20.2 feet by Monday, well beyond the 15-foot flood stage. Several roads are already underwater, including Mill, Canal, and Island Roads. If you're traveling this weekend, remember the cardinal rule of flood safety: turn around, don't drown. No destination is worth risking your safety through high waters.
