πŸ—οΈ Tissue titan journey

Pickaway County • March 12, 2025

Good morning, Pickaway County. At a staggering 321,000 pounds, Sofidel's newly arrived Yankee Dryer is a marvel of industrial engineering and logistics. This tissue-making titan completed an extraordinary journey from Sweden to Circleville, traveling across continents and waterways before making its final approach on Ohio roads at a careful 40-60 miles per day. Once operational in late 2025, it will transform the facility into Sofidel's global flagship, boosting production capacity by an impressive 70,000 tons annually.

On a more solemn note, emergency responders rushed to a tragic scene Tuesday afternoon when a two-vehicle collision at State Route 104 and Vanmeter Road resulted in a vehicle fire and one confirmed fatality. Meanwhile, the county's veterans have a new advocate as Air Force veteran Todd Huffman steps into leadership at Pickaway Veterans Services, bringing 30 years of military experience and a lifelong connection to the community he'll now serve.

🏭 Massive 321,000-pound Yankee Dryer arrives at Ohio tissue mill. The critical tissue production component completed an epic journey from Sweden to Sofidel's Circleville facility, traveling across Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, and up American rivers before reaching Ohio. Due to its enormous sizeβ€”18.5 feet in diameter and 22 feet wideβ€”the dryer required careful logistical planning and moved just 40-60 miles daily during its final road transport. Once installed on a new paper machine scheduled to begin operations in late 2025, it will boost the mill's production capacity by 70,000 tons annually, making it Sofidel's largest and most important facility worldwide.
