❤️ Forever Homes Found

Pickaway County • February 20, 2025

Good morning, Pickaway County. Here's a number that will warm your heart: 15,000. That's how many foster children have found their forever homes through Ohio's partnership with the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. Our state isn't just leading the way in buckeyes and football championships - we're championship-level matchmakers when it comes to building families, accounting for more than 10% of all the program's successful adoptions nationwide.

While we're celebrating those heartwarming milestones, get ready for an evening of healing through humor. Bobby Henline, the "Well Done Comedian" and Iraq War veteran, is bringing his unique brand of resilience-meets-comedy to Circleville's AMVETS next April. Between his inspiring performance and Judge Chafin's packed court docket, our community calendar is serving up both justice and joy.

👶 Ohio adoption program helps 15,000 foster kids find forever homes. The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption reached this milestone through their Wendy's Wonderful Kids program over the past two decades. Ohio, the first state to fully implement the initiative, accounts for more than 10% of all adoptions. While celebrating this achievement, Foundation President Rita Soronen emphasizes there's more work ahead, noting that 20,000 children age out of foster care annually without finding families. The organization aims to ensure no child lingers in the system waiting for adoption.
