🌞 Solar setbacks

Pickaway County • January 17, 2025

Good morning, Pickaway County. The sun may have set on Circleville Solar's ambitious 70-megawatt project, with the Ohio Power Siting Board delivering their final verdict this week. While our corner of Ohio won't be harvesting sunshine just yet, the board's busy session saw green lights flashing for several other energy initiatives across the state, from Wood County's solar fields to Erie's wind farms.

On a somber note, our community mourns the loss of a pedestrian in a tragic late-night incident at South Washington and Mill Street. As investigators work diligently to bring answers to grieving loved ones, it's a stark reminder to keep safety at the forefront of our minds during these darker winter evenings – whether we're behind the wheel or on foot.

⚑ Ohio board kills Circleville Solar's plea for project revival. The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSB) has rejected Circleville Solar LLC's request to reconsider its 70-megawatt solar project in Pickaway County. In the same session, the board greenlit modifications for several other energy initiatives, including changes to the Juliet Solar project in Wood County. The approvals extended to AEP Ohio's transmission line projects and Duke Energy's Butler County pipeline plans. The board also gave the go-ahead for Firelands Wind's Emerson Creek Wind Farm project in Erie and Huron counties.
