Good morning, Muskingum County. In a region where childcare costs can exceed a car payment, one local school district has created an innovative solution that's keeping teachers in classrooms. The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center has transformed unused office space into affordable daycare centers, allowing educators like the Board family to continue their careers while raising children. With infant care in Ohio averaging nearly $14,000 annually, this cost-sharing model between employers, parents, and state grants could become a blueprint for addressing childcare shortages statewide.

The community is processing both tragedy and triumph this week. While a Newark man received a 15-year sentence for the heartbreaking death of 21-year-old Tala Smith, the excitement of Friday night lights brought communities together across Ohio. Week 8 football action delivered everything from nail-biting overtime finishes to commanding victories, with teams now positioning themselves for playoff runs as the regular season enters its final stretch.
