Good morning, Muskingum County. Safety initiatives are getting a significant boost in neighboring Guernsey County, where the sheriff's office just secured nearly $48,000 to combat deadly crashes through 2026. The funding will power increased patrols during high-risk periods, targeting everything from late-night impaired driving to dangerous speeding during major events—a timely investment after the county experienced multiple fatal crashes annually since 2020.

Meanwhile, economic development is transforming the landscape at Conesville Industrial Park, where Aligned Data Centers broke ground on a massive 473,000-square-foot facility last week. The construction project will bring up to 1,800 temporary jobs to the region, followed by 30 permanent positions when operations begin in 2026. Just a short drive away, Perry County is buzzing with community spirit through disability employment awareness events, FFA activities, and the Sheridan Generals' impressive 63-0 football victory that has local sports fans cheering.

🚓 Guernsey County Sheriff gets $48,000 to fight deadly crashes. The grant from Ohio's Department of Public Safety will fund two critical programs through 2026. The first allocates $23,498 for overtime to detect and remove impaired drivers from roadways during nighttime hours. Another $24,998 will support high-visibility enforcement targeting speeding, distracted driving, and aggressive driving behaviors. The sheriff's office will also conduct special enforcement during holidays, school dances, and major events like the Super Bowl. Guernsey County was selected after experiencing at least two fatal crashes annually from 2020-2023.
