Muskingum County • October 1, 2025
Good morning, Muskingum County. Relief washes over our community with news that sixteen-year-old Aleah Caplinger has been found safe after her weeklong disappearance. The Zanesville teenager, missing since September 23, is now back with her family—a bright spot of good news that reminds us how quickly a community can mobilize when one of our own goes missing.
While one family celebrates a homecoming, the Muskingum County Land Bank continues transforming community eyesores into valuable assets. From converting Munson Elementary into a 43-unit housing complex to clearing the former Mosaic Tile factory site for our new county jail, these revitalization efforts mirror the spirit found in Nelsonville's Stuart's Opera House, where the free after-school music program has been nurturing young musicians for 13 years. These creative teens aren't just learning instruments—they're building the confidence and collaboration skills that will serve our region for generations to come.
