🚒 Trust detour

Good morning, Muskingum County. When public trust is shattered, the ripples extend throughout a community. Such is the case with Timothy Pulley, a firefighter who betrayed his position by embezzling $32,000 in raffle funds meant for a new ambulance. While the 29-year-old now faces prison time and full restitution, the South Zanesville Fire Department has assured ticket buyers their contributions remain secure, as only organizational profits were misappropriated for Pulley's personal expenses.

In brighter developments, South East Area Transit is scaling up operations with the $1.25 million purchase of a former bank building, creating a much-needed hub for Ohio's largest rural transit service that now schedules nearly 20,000 trips monthly. Meanwhile, the village of Peebles is celebrating its designation as Ohio's 22nd Buckeye Trail Town—connecting the home of the 1,348-foot Great Serpent Mound to a growing network of communities promoting outdoor recreation and local tourism.

🔥 Firefighter betrayed community trust by stealing $32,000 in raffle money. Timothy Pulley, 29, has pleaded guilty to embezzling funds meant for a new ambulance at South Zanesville Fire Department. Between May and August, Pulley transferred raffle proceeds into his personal accounts to pay for rent, living expenses, and a new motorcycle. The department assured ticket buyers that their money remained safe, as only the organization's profits were stolen. Pulley now faces up to four years in prison and must pay over $32,000 in restitution.
