Good morning, Muskingum County. The agricultural landscape is shifting beneath our feet as Centerra Co-op finalizes its strategic acquisition of Coshocton Grain Company. This business chess move brings both a soybean processing plant and a grain facility under the cooperative's expanding umbrella, diversifying services and creating weather-resistant operational security across a broader geographic footprint. For local farmers and agricultural stakeholders, this represents not just a business transaction but potentially new markets for their grain.
Mark your calendars for a quintessential summer tradition as the Muskingum County Fair returns August 11-12 with its blend of livestock competitions, musical performances, and demolition derby excitement. While fairgoers enjoy $10 admission (free for the under-five crowd), our community continues to shine in other arenas too—from Sam Blackburn's journalism awards to Ken Tolliver's promotion at Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative. Just note those upcoming road closures, particularly on Dresden Road and the I-70 eastbound onramp.

🌾 Ohio's Centerra Co-op expands its agricultural empire. The cooperative is finalizing its purchase of Coshocton Grain Company, acquiring a soybean processing plant in Coshocton and a grain facility in Hebron, Ohio. The Coshocton plant produces high-quality extruded soybean meal and oil, while the Hebron location specializes in loading grain into intermodal containers for export. This strategic acquisition diversifies Centerra's services, opens new markets for members' grain, and expands its geographic footprint to protect against weather-related risks. "This addition brings an exciting and innovative business unit to our Co-op," said Centerra CEO Jean Bratton.
