
🇺🇸 Granville honors fallen heroes with 152-year Memorial Day tradition. The celebration begins with cemetery ceremonies, followed by a 10:40 a.m. parade from Broadway and Main to Maple Grove Cemetery. Mayor Melissa Hartfield, Granville's longest-serving mayor, will deliver the keynote address at the 11 a.m. program. American Legion Post 398 invites all veterans to participate in the march, which will feature the Granville High School Marching Band and Land of Legend Chorus performing patriotic music. The ceremony will conclude with a traditional rifle salute and the raising of the flag from half to full staff.

🏢 Perry County Health Department's big move begins this month. On May 27, Administration and Vital Statistics will relocate to a new facility at 2235 state Route 13, formerly known as "the Perco Building." Health Education services will shift locations on May 28, while Nursing Department services will remain at the current Lincoln Park Drive location until July 2025. Environmental Department services will also stay put until late summer 2025. Despite these changes, all department phone numbers will remain the same, and staff encourages residents to call ahead with questions as they work toward consolidating all services under one roof.

👼 Zanesville's new memorial garden will honor babies lost during pregnancy. The Muskingum Valley Park District and Miles' Mission are partnering to create a 2.3-acre Angel of Hope memorial park on Military Road. The centerpiece $18,000 angel statue has already been ordered and should be installed by September or October, coinciding with National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. The peaceful space will feature walking paths, a children's playground, pavilion, and dedication bricks for families to memorialize their lost infants. This serene setting aims to provide grieving families a place for reflection while enjoying nature.
