Muskingum County • February 25, 2025
Good morning, Muskingum County. Southeast Ohio's economic landscape just got a powerful new champion. Matt Abbott, who helped bring nearly $1 billion in investment to Zanesville-Muskingum County, is stepping up to lead Ohio Southeast Economic Development. With his track record of creating over 1,000 local jobs, Abbott's promotion feels like watching our hometown hero make it to the big leagues.
While we're celebrating new beginnings, we're also honoring those who built our community's foundation. We remember James Overholt, whose 45-year dedication to education shaped countless lives, and Martha Marlatt, who did more than style hair for 65 years – she wove herself into the fabric of our community through her warmth and service. Their legacies remind us that true community impact often starts with a single person committed to making a difference.
