Good morning, Meigs County. Mother Nature's artistry is on full display in our region, with Jeanette Biddinger's stunning photograph capturing perfect raindrops delicately balanced on wildflower leaves near Barlow. The image, featured in the News and Sentinel, reminds us that sometimes the most extraordinary beauty can be found in the smallest details of our Mid-Ohio Valley landscape.
While some focus on preserving our natural heritage through photography, others are working to protect it through preparation. The Coolville Volunteer Fire Department recently hosted specialized hazardous materials training that brought together nine departments across three counties. Meanwhile, history enthusiasts gathered at Muskingum Park for the second annual "History in the Park" festival, where Civil War reenactors and local historical organizations transformed Marietta into a living museum of our region's rich past—complete with an authentic 10-pound Parrott rifle cannon that connected visitors to our shared heritage.

🚒 Fifteen fire departments gather for critical hazmat training in Ohio. The Coolville Volunteer Fire Department was one of 15 sites nationwide selected for free hazardous materials training through the Partners in Training Crew program. First responders from nine departments across three counties participated in weekend courses covering hazmat basics, decontamination, and electric vehicle fires. Instructors emphasized that EV batteries can reignite after appearing extinguished, requiring special handling techniques. The program, a partnership between the National Volunteer Fire Council and the Department of Transportation, aims to create local trainers who can prepare their communities for dangerous hazardous material incidents.
