Good morning, Meigs County. The power of community generosity is on full display as Jefferson Alumni awards $11,000 in scholarships to eleven promising graduates. Since 2003, this remarkable program has funded 188 scholarships, creating pathways for local talent to pursue everything from engineering degrees to welding certifications. The tradition of giving back continues with several new memorial scholarships established this year, each representing a family's commitment to the next generation.
In bittersweet contrast, the community mourns the loss of 18-year-old Jeremy Heiss following a tragic Friday night crash in Washington County. Meanwhile, downtown Parkersburg transformed into a culinary celebration as over 1,000 food enthusiasts gathered for the annual Taste of Parkersburg festival. The event, recently named USA Today's #2 City Food Festival, featured dishes from 12 local eateries and continues to showcase the region's flourishing food scene while supporting downtown revitalization efforts.
