Good morning, Marion County. After 110 years of faithful service, Marion's Central Fire Station stands as a living museum where history meets modern emergency response. What once housed horses in wooden stalls now preserves fascinating artifacts—from still-functional fire poles to meticulously kept call logs dating back to the 1880s that chronicle emergencies handled during President Harding's era. The building itself remains remarkably unchanged since 1913, a testament to enduring craftsmanship.

Classical music enthusiasts have a treat in store as "Mozart in the May" brings the Central Ohio Symphony ensemble to the May Pavilion on September 14. At just $19 per ticket (free for music students!), it's an accessible dose of cultural enrichment. Meanwhile, nature lovers can make a different kind of contribution by joining Columbus's Pollinator Documentation Program, where volunteer "Planeteers" help monitor and protect the tiny creatures responsible for one-third of our food supply.

🚒 Marion's historic fire station stands tall after 110 years. Built in 1913, the Central Fire Station's exterior remains remarkably similar to its original design, with the exception of the hose tower. What once housed horses in stalls now serves as storage, offices, and firefighter seating areas. The station preserves fascinating historical elements including fire poles still in use, bed frames dating to the 1950s, and meticulously kept call logbooks from the 1880s that document the city's emergency history—including calls from notable figures like President Harding's father-in-law.

🐝 Columbus needs volunteers to help save local pollinators. The city's Pollinator Documentation Program is recruiting "Planeteers" to monitor plant and pollinator health in green spaces like Whetstone Park. Volunteers learn to identify native and invasive species, use the iNaturalist app to track observations, and follow set routes through prairie habitats. Training sessions are scheduled for August 12, while a hands-on Pollinator Field Day on August 23 offers opportunities to remove invasive species. Both events require minimal time commitment but could significantly impact local biodiversity.
